As the proportion of the world’s population in the older ages continues to increase,
the need for improved accessibility and usability becomes critical.
With many challenges on the day to day (Vision, Hearing, Cognitive ability…)
how can we make things better for
those we care about?
Peer-to-peer collaboration is gaining ground and changing the economics of the future,
companies like Airbnb and Uber empower thousands to share their resources and earn a living.
With the market expected to grow to $335bn by 2025 how can you lead the next round of
the cities of the future?
Plazas, parks, centres, squares… Whatever you might call them, public spaces exist all over Barcelona providing access to “breathing room”, social gatherings, or maybe a spot to chat with a friend or for a quick bite to eat. Examples are endless. How might we hack/repurpose these locations for some new form of access?
Hackathons are where thoughts become things, collaborating, coding and creating literally anything. Attendees work in teams of up to four people for twenty-four hours to create a hack, web, app, hardware or anything.
HackGT@UPC will start the morning of Thursday, July 21st and continue until the 22nd.
Yes. tl;dr: Be excellent to each other.
You need not to worry! Part of the fun of a hackathon is meeting new people. We will have time at the beginning of the event for everyone to meet and form teams. Everyone from first time to experienced hackers will find their perfect match.
Web, mobile, hardware, anything is on the table. Projects will be judged based on creativity, technical difficulty, polish, and usefulness by a panel of industry judges.
HackGT@UPC will take place in sunny Barcelona, Spain.
Students from universities and high schools from all around the world.
HackGT@UPC is free for all accepted hackers. We will provide your WiFi, meals, swag, and workspace.
All attendees must bring a valid ID for admission. Other common checklist items include: laptops, sleeping bags, chargers and toiletries. We strongly recommend comfy shoes and pants for the night :3
Teams of up to four are welcome. You can also hack solo if you want!
